Best Wii U Game:
The Wii U category was a super hard one to split because whilst the Wii U’s line-up was excellent in 2013 there were two titles head and shoulders above the rest. So in a year that boasted titles such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, The Wonderful 101 and the remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, it ultimately came down to two titles – Super Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3. In what may seem a surprise to many it is Pikmin 3 that walks out the victor by the slimmest of margins. While Mario excelled in every way, and delivers a superb platforming experience, you never felt like you were being lured into just one more level, or ten more minutes over and over like in Pikmin 3. Boasting new classes of Pikmin, a stunning world and incredible strategic depth, Pikmin 3 stands as the main reason to get a Wii U to date and should not be missed, and is the best Wii U game of 2013.Best Xbox 360 Game:
If you were looking for high quality games to keep you preoccupied this year the Xbox 360 was something of a letdown in the exclusives department, with the exception of Gears of War: Judgment and indie darlings in such as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, State of Decay, and Monaco: What’s Yours is mine, but third releases such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, Tomb Raider and Grand Theft Auto V have made the 360’s final year a successful one for the world’s 80 million Xbox 360 owners. Standing tall among all those titles was the masterpiece that is Bioshock Infinite. The world is packed with such enormous life and depth with a narrative that will keep you riveted right until it’s gripping conclusion making Bioshock Infinite the standout game on the Xbox 360 or 2013.Best PS3 Game:
In what has been a fine year for the PS3, the final year before it successor takes over, we were blessed with a broad range of exceptional titles from third party gems such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Bioshock Infinite, Grand Theft Auto V, Tomb Raider, and Rayman Legends, to indie darlings such as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and Stealth Inc, as well as exceptional exclusive games such as Beyond Two Souls, God of War: Ascension, Gran Turismo 6, and Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. It was another first party title that stole the show this year as the best PS3 game, The Last of Us is the idyllic blend of action, suspense, horror and excellent storytelling. Naughty Dog has shown that they’re still the masters of their craft and have again raised the bar for what gaming can be – The Last of Us is proof of this fact.Check back in tomorrow as we begin our countdown of the Top 10 Games of 2013
